Countdown to WAAVP 2021

Welcome Letter

Dear Colleagues

I am delighted to invite you to the 28th International Conference of the World Association for the Advancement of Veterinary Parasitology, to be held in Dublin from 18th-22nd July 2021.  The theme for the conference will be “Parasitologists without Borders”, which captures both the interdisciplinary nature of our research, and the pressing need for our scientific community to play its part in addressing the global challenges that confront us.   The local organising committee is drawn from all parts of the Island of Ireland, and we aim to present a scientific programme that brings together the leading minds to speak on topics relevant to scientific understanding, drug development, vaccines, diagnostics, and parasite control in veterinary medicine.  The Conference will be held in Dublin’s Convention Centre, a purpose-built venue just a few minutes’ walk from Dublin’s vibrant city centre with its many museums, restaurants, pubs and cafes.

Come and meet with us in Dublin for WAAVP2021 – we look forward to hosting graduate students, early-career researchers, established investigators and those involved in the application of veterinary parasitology in the context of One Health, Food production, Companion animals, Wildlife biology, policy development, and more.   The city of Dublin is known for its friendliness and ability to make Dubliners and visitors alike feel at home – we aim for a similar feeling at WAAVP, providing networking opportunities that will be inclusive, and value the diversity of our delegates.   From the Dublin Convention Centre on the banks of the River Liffey, to the adjacent Silicon Docks, to the historic shopping and socialising venues of Grafton Street and St. Stephens’ Green, to the wider but still accessible delights of the Wild Atlantic Way, Ireland’s Ancient East or the Causeway Coast in the North, there is much to enjoy.   We look forward to extending you our traditional  Céad Míle Fáilte

– A Hundred Thousand Welcomes.

Grace Mulcahy, Chair, on behalf of the Local Organising Committee
